Tell me about... San Vito firework displays

In the last week of August, and as part of the San Vito festivities at Omegna, at the north end of Lake Orta, there are a series of superb and unmissable firework displays in the evening, some with accompanying music, launched from rafts on the lake.

If you watch from the town, go really early to get a good place - and do not expect to be able to leave immediately afterwards. To avoid the massive crowds, a great way is to book a place on a boat, departing from Orta San Giulio or Pella. The boats congregate just outside the firework zone, so you get a really good view too!
